Text: Hi team,

Wow has it been a crazy week and a half since we all saw one another! First things first, how is everyone? We hope you're doing well and that you and your family are safe and in good health (and not driving each other crazy yet). We are both still in the Twin Cities, so if anyone needs any help or support locally, please reach out.

We are writing to let you know a little bit about our plans for the remainder of the semester. Operating the Mac Weekly is going to get a little unconventional, but as we said in our open letter to the community, the work we do as a group feels more important than ever.

And so begins our experiment with wholly remote reporting. As you've surely seen on the website, we have already published stories about the college's response to COVID-19. As we continue this spring, we are going to do our best to cover both short term and long term questions, related to COVID-19 and totally unrelated. While it feels like this is the only thing going on, there are still other stories vital to our community at this time (shoutout bookstore) and we want to continue to give those topics the coverage they deserve.

Below is a link to a google form that will just tell us about your interest in continuing to work this semester. Please fill that out so both we and your section editors can get an idea of how big the staff will be moving forward.

Due to the nature of online publishing, we are doing away with our normal weekly schedule. At the moment, our plan is two-pronged, first: each writer will get a week to write their story (meaning your story is due for edits a week after it is assigned). Second: we will have a weekly staff zoom call, on either Tuesday or Wednesday evenings to touch base and try and cultivate a little bit of the office community we all love so much.

As far as story assignments go, we have a list of ideas in the Spring 2020 folder. If you would like to write a story, please get in touch with either of us and/ or your section editor.' Original pitches are of course still welcome.

These are unprecedented times! But we have a job to do, and more than that we're going to miss seeing all of your smiling faces every week (don't even ask about the tears that took place when the decision to cancel classes came out). So, like your technology inept professors, we're soldiering on while preparing for any potential bumps along the way.

Can't wait to hear from you guys (we miss you already).

Love,
Morgan and Hannah
