Roxane Harvey Gudeman and Geoffrey Maruyama ’72 were part of a research team that published, “Does Diversity Make a Difference? Three Research Studies on Diversity in College Classrooms” (2000). This study was influential in the U.S. Supreme Court decision (Grutter
v. Bollinger) permitting the University of Michigan law school to consider an applicant’s race among admission criteria.
