This site began in the Spring of 2019, in anticipation of the 2019 Alumni of Color Reunion and commemoration of the 50-year anniversary of the beginning of the Expanded Educational Opportunities Program. It is hoped that this site will grow and new stories and perspectives will continue to be added. If you’re interested in contributing content or helping with this site, please contact archives@macalester.edu.

As we share stories and experiences of students and other community members who have preceded us here at Macalester, it is important to also acknowledge the Dakota people, ancestors and descendants, as well as the land itself—land that Macalester is on and benefits from. This is the ancestral homeland of the Dakota people (particularly the Sisseton and Wahpeton bands) who were forcibly exiled from the land because of aggressive and persistent settler colonialism, and we would like to honor the fact that we are on Dakota land.
