Counterbalance: Macalester’s Other History
This website contains a selection of materials from the Macalester College Archives, as well as student projects that have made use of archival collections. These materials speak to unofficial narratives and events, and most importantly, to student resistance and resilience, that demonstrates student ability to build meanings and communities in the face of traditional systems and structures which haven’t always welcomed or included them. Our hope is that you find information and inspiration, and that our content leads you to create context and connection that helps illuminate paths forward.

Multiculturalism at Macalester–EEO
This site began in the Spring of 2019, in anticipation of the 2019 Alumni of Color Reunion and commemoration of the 50-year anniversary of the beginning of the Expanded Educational Opportunities Program. It is hoped that this site will grow and new stories and perspectives will continue to be added.
